Insulation Removal
Envirotech Insulation offers insulation removal when required.
Insulation Removal
The majority of attic work does not require removal of the existing insulation. In some cases though, insulation removal is recommended.
Although Insulation removal may not be required, below are situations where you may want to consider the removal of your current insulation.
Animals – Typically racoons and squirrels, but also mice infestations that have made your attic their home, have contaminated the insulation. It is recommended to remove the insulation in these cases, and reinsulate. Cellulose insulation is rodent retardant and will help limit this problem going forward.
Renovations – Renovations often required removing a ceiling to allow for structural work, or just to replace something original. Insulation removal in those areas can help keep the mess to a minimum.
Roof leaks – Roof leaks can cause the insulation to get saturated, which in turn can cause mold. Removal of wet insulation is recommended to limit the damage and mold growth.
Mold – If you have had a mold remediation done in the attic, the insulation will be contaminated and should be removed
Using the proper equipment, insulation is vacuumed out of the attic directly into a special vacuum bag outside. This eliminates the contaminated insulation from affecting your home during removal.
“Short version – excellent. Long version… house built around 1880, storey and a half, balloon framing, aluminium siding from the early sixties, white with green trim, typical farmhouse. We needed someone to come and remove some aluminium siding as well as insulate some interior walls to keep drafts from the crawl space cellar going to the attic through interior walls. These guys did a bang up job of getting the siding off , drilling the access holes, blowing in the insulation and getting everything back in order. We were so pleased with the job they did we had them come back to do the attic. Attic required an access hole to be opened which they did with minimum fuss and bother. I elected to close the attic access myself. The house is noticeably quieter and we are much more comfortable as the heat is much more consistent without the high to low swings. I have never written a review before but these guys deserve consideration and are worth consulting.”
